Today we're celebrating the International Day of Human Rights. For this reason, I'd like to remember the work that Martin Luther King did to fight against racial segregation in the US in order to get civil rights for the black people.
Do not forget that civil rights are important when we talk about human rights, as civil rights are our rights as citizens. When we are treated as proper citizens we feel like real human beings. There are still lots of people in the world who are not treated in a human way.
If people like Luther King, Rose Parks or Malcolm X hadn't existed, probably Obama wouldn't be the president of the United States now.
Here's Martin Luther king's "I have a dream" speech.
